State Route 141 (Hartsville Pike)

Wilson and Trousdale counties

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is constructing improvements along the State Route 141 corridor in Wilson and Trousdale counties. Two projects, from Lovers Lane to US 70 in Wilson County, and from State Route 10 to Cedar Bluff Road in Trousdale County, are currently under construction.

The projects, which include widening, realignment, and intersection improvements, are intended to increase capacity, reduce delays, and improve safety. These projects are essential towards the efforts of connecting Trousdale County and surrounding counties to Wilson County

Current Status: Both projects are under construction.

Estimated construction start: Both projects began construction in 2023.

Estimated competition*: The Wilson County project is projected to complete in 2026. The section in Trousdale County is projected to complete in 2027.

Funding Type: The city of Lebanon provided funding for a portion of the Wilson County project. The remainder of both projects are funded through traditional federal and state sources.

Traffic Impacts

Traffic Impacts

Lovers Lane to US 70

Initial traffic control will include multiple aspects. A lane shift will be installed on US 70 that will reduce the current lanes of traffic down to 11-foot wide lanes. Old Rome Pike will experience a new alignment resulting in a detour and road closure for through traffic. The east side of the SR 141 widening that follows the current alignment will be included in this phase. Private driveways will always remain accessible.

State Route 10 to Cedar Bluff Road

Work so far has included clearing and grubbing, installing erosion control measures, and the start of some gradework activities. Since this is a new alignment, traffic impacts will be relatively minor for this size of project. For Matt Carman Lane, Lock 6 Road, SR 25 and SR 10, traffic will be shifted onto temporary pavement as new SR 141 is constructed in those areas, and flagging operations should be expected intermittently. Updates will be provided on this website and on TDOT SmartWay.

History and Background

History and Background

Lovers Lane to US 70

In 2019, TDOT completed widening a section of SR 141 in Wilson County, from Africa Road to Lovers Lane, to include four travel lanes (with either a median or a center turning lane). This project will provide four travel lanes along the entire stretch of SR 141 from Africa Road into downtown Lebanon.

Additionally, this project includes realignment of SR 141 for the southern portion of the project, from near Oakdale Drive to a new intersection with US 70. The new intersection at US 70 will provide an improved alternative to the existing intersection, which experiences congestion within a compact roadway with minimal vehicle storage.

State Route 10 to Cedar Bluff Road

This section of SR 141 will include four miles of entirely new alignment. The new roadway, which will include one 12-foot travel lane in each direction and 10-foot outside shoulders, will bypass Hartsville to the west, reducing through-traffic on SR 141 through Hartsville and enabling faster travel times along the corridor.

Additionally, this project will include a 1700-foot bridge over the Cumberland River and a 200-foot bridge over State Route 25. New intersections will be constructed at Matt Carman Lane and Lock 6 Road.

Although this project will only construct two travel lanes on SR 141, TDOT acquired sufficient right-of-way and designed the project to accommodate two additional travel lanes in the future, should traffic volumes require it.

Public Involvement and Engagement

A public meeting for the Wilson County segment was held at Lebanon City Hall on December 4th to answer any questions about project construction and right of way.
