Hope Dyson

Sharing for DIDD's #IAmASDinTN campaign in celebration of Autism Month is Hope Dyson!  Read what Hope had to say about herself and her goals below:

"I am Hope Dyson. I was born in Sierra Leone. I love sports, art, and inspiring young kids to get out and serve others. I commit my life to serving others by volunteering at BELL Garden in Bellevue, TN and Friends Life Community in Nashville. I also work with a fitness coach to improve my hammer-throwing skills and strength training.
I took classes at TN State in speech & language and cultural anthropology as well as sign language. My dream is to start a program in Sierra Leone supporting people with disabilities. I am a professional portrait artist which is my gift because I have Autism. My creativity helps me see details and patterns in my art from my memory.
People with Autism are all different but yet the same. We are all human and make mistakes, but we are all people with differences and uniqueness.
My dream is to go to the Olympics and represent Sierra Leone and show them that a woman with a disability can be strong and capable. I would also love to create a program called “Hope for the Hopeless” which will help people who have mental or physical disabilities have a place to belong.
