General Information

The Office of the State Architect provides staff support to the functioning of the State Building Commission (SBC) whose responsibility is oversight of all building construction and renovation, demolition, and land and lease transactions for State government. The State Architect, who is selected by the SBC, serves as its Chief Staff Officer and is responsible for implementing its By-laws, Policy and Procedures. The State Architect implements standards for design and construction and monitors compliance of real estate and construction with State statutes and policies. In addition to the SBC, the Office of the State Architect supports the functions of the State Capitol Commission, and the State Architect is a member of the Tennessee Residence Commission and Prevailing Wage Commission.
