Laura Travis is the event coordinator for House District 31’s local office and was
appointed to the Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF) by Governor Bill and First Lady Crissy Haslam. In addition to working with local schools on the Read Across America, Imagination Library and Tennessee Achieves initiatives, Travis mentors high school seniors applying for a Tennessee Promise scholarship. In February 2013, she created and implemented the “Let’s Tour 31” program for House District 31, recognizing the need for Tennessee constituents to receive more exposure to Tennessee’s State Capitol and State Museum. Concurrently as an enhancement to "Let's Tour 31," Travis has served as an Executive Residence docent appointed by First Ladies Crissy Haslam and Maria Lee.

As an active member in the Dayton Chapter of Rotary International, Travis's service to her community is focused on stewardship and education with an awareness of the role the three grand divisions play in support of the global community.

Travis Chaired the Rhea County Courthouse Restoration Task Force which successfully raised all the funds needed to restore the Rhea County Courthouse which includes the Rhea County Museum and the Scopes Trial Museum.

Travis was an Associate Agent and accountant for the Ron Travis Agency, a Nationwide Insurance affiliate in Dayton, Tennessee, for 30 years before the agency was sold in 2018. She is a former owner and primary agent for the Laura Travis Agency, an Allstate Insurance affiliate, and is retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Travis is married to State Representative Ron Travis (R) Dayton. They have two daughters and four grandchildren, and live on a farm in Rhea County.
