Tennessee Department of Human Resources Awarded for Excellence in the Public Sector

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Department of Human Resources (DOHR) was recently awarded the Agency of Excellence Award in the ‘Large Agency’ category by the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR). The award goes to a human resources agency whose overall quality, accomplishments, and contributions have exceeded those normally seen in the public sector for at least the past three years. DOHR Commissioner Rebecca Hunter was presented the award at the 2018 IPMA-HR Conference awards luncheon held in Phoenix on Monday, September 24.

“We are honored to be nationally recognized for excellence in human resources,” said Commissioner Hunter. “The success of our state is directly tied to our workforce, and we have worked hard to create an environment where employees thrive. Today, the State of Tennessee is a true learning organization where employees excel in providing great service to our citizens.”

IMPA-HR also awarded the State’s Chief Learning Officer, Dr. Trish Holliday, the Warner W. Stockberger Achievement Award, which recognizes outstanding individual contributions to public sector personnel management. In addition to establishing professional development programs like LEAD Tennessee, the HR Master Series, and the Management and Leadership Learning Pyramid, Holliday co-edited the IPMA-HR report HR2020 Shifting Perspectives: A Vision for Public Sector HR and was the primary author of the Talent area of focus.
