Minimum Qualifications

·       Provide technical assistance for school-administered childcare programs (measuring new space, setting up classrooms, etc.).

Position Overview

ELA (English Language Arts) consultants are an integral part of the CORE regional support team concentrating on providing literacy support across pre-K-12 instruction. This position works with the regional CORE office team to support districts in the region with ELA content and instruction aligned to Tennessee’s academic standards by partnering with district leaders to diagnose, plan, implement, and monitor change ideas that will lead to academic improvement.  

The CORE regional support team focuses on helping districts make changes to three key areas: instruction, assessment, and curriculum. As the consultants provide this support, they help districts consider coherence across their district by ensuring interconnectedness between district elements of culture, structure, processes, resources, and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of two years of full-time, pre K-12 teaching experience or higher education experience related to pre K-12 instruction.

Position Summary:

The Regional Licensure Consultant works with the Division of Educator Licensure team to ensure that school districts across the state are supported in their understanding of laws, rules, policies, and procedures pertaining to educator licensure, with a particular focus on targeted support in their region of assignment. This support is accomplished through the provision of district training (primarily for personnel with an HR role) on laws, rules, policies, procedures, and use of the TNCompass application.

The Regional Consultant is also responsible for effective and efficient processing of licensure applications, as needed, as well as ensuring timely and accurate responses to educators’ requests for assistance. The Regional consultant serves as the first level of support for issue district issue escalation and requests prior to escalating exceptional issues to the Licensure Program Manager and Director of Licensure. The person in this role will support the team in achieving licensure processing goals both directly, through processing licensure transactions, and indirectly through provision of targeted issue handling and processing of more complex application types.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain an exceptional understanding of state law; state board licensure policies, rules; and department operating procedures to provide technical assistance to district personnel
  • Provide timely and effective communication to stakeholders across the state, regarding licensure policies and procedures, via TNCompass (online licensure web application), phone, email, and in- person
  • Serve as the first reviewer for issue escalation, evaluating and responding to cases identified by districts and engaging the director of licensure and operations when appropriate
  • Track issues received, referred to other appropriate personnel, and the resolution status to ensure that issues are resolved promptly and thoroughly and that status updates are provided to those reporting issues, as well as to the director of licensure and operations
  • Communicate with the licensure program manager and director of licensure and operations regarding areas of need for communications development, guidance documentation, and stakeholder training
  • Use TNCompass, to review educator licensure transactions for both issue resolution and processing as assigned by the director of licensure and operations
  • Become an expert TNCompass user and assist the director of licensure and operations in troubleshooting possible issues in the system and in conducting user acceptance testing of newly developed features, enhancements, and bug fixes prior to the software vendor deploying changes
  • Collaborate with the licensure program manager and director of licensure and operations on the development of TNCompass and licensure training materials and communications tools with a district focus
  • Deliver regularly scheduled district-facing training on licensure laws, rules, policies, procedures, and TNCompass, as well as periodic training for cohorts of new HR personnel (and other district stakeholders involved in recruitment, hiring, staffing etc.) as needed in the consultant’s region of focus.

Education and Experience: Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and experience equivalent to four years of full-time professional educational, instructional or supervisory/administrative work. Anticipated Salary Range: The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $72,000 to $80,000. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.

This position will require travel to the above listed school districts.

This position will also work from a home residence pursuant to the Department’s Alternative Workplace Solutions policy.  Occasional in-person days will be required at the office address listed below:

Position Summary

Special education consultants are an integral part of the CORE regional support team concentrating on Improving outcomes for students with disabilities through system-level strategies and change ideas. This includes access and supports for students with disabilities to high-quality tier I instruction and high-quality instructionally appropriate IEPs. This position works with the regional CORE office team by partnering with district leaders to diagnose, plan, implement, and monitoring change ideas that will lead to improved outcomes for students.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: and a minimum of two

years of full-time, pre K-12 teaching experience or higher education experience related to pre K-12 instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Consultants should have district leadership experience. This could include Special Education Supervisor, Instructional Supervisor, Special Education Coordinator, Special Education Coach, Instructional Coach, or others.

·       Strong oral and written communication skills

·       Demonstrated record of success in improving student outcomes for students with disabilities (preferably at the school or district level)

·       Experience leading and managing projects and/or teams (preferably at the school or district level)

·       Experience in a leadership role that required problem-solving and implementation of programs or ideas

·       Experience coaching others for improvement

·       Experience leading and/or facilitating adult learning opportunities

·       Demonstrated success in building relationships with other educators and leaders

·       Comfort with regular travel throughout the CORE region, and willingness to attend meetings statewide as needed

·       Master’s degree, Administrative Endorsement, or Special Education Endorsement (preferred)

Essential Functions

The CORE regional support team focuses on helping districts make changes to three key areas: instruction, assessment, and curriculum. CORE consultants provide support by assisting districts in diagnosing, planning, implementing, and monitoring change ideas to improve student outcomes. As the consultants provide this support, they help districts consider coherence across their district by ensuring interconnectedness between district elements of: culture, structure, processes, resources, and stakeholders.
As special education consultants engage in this work, they do the following:

·       Build trusting relationships and partnerships with district leaders and TDOE department leads.

·       Engage with district leaders to diagnose specific special education instructional needs

·       Facilitate diagnosing conversations and set goals for improvement that specifically target improvements for SWD

·       Facilitate planning conversations to determine strategies that may help a district meet the goals it has determined as a result of the diagnosing.

·       Provide differentiated support to assist districts in implementing their plans aimed at improving systems and structures to support special education for improved student outcomes.

·       Support districts in setting clear benchmark indicators and monitoring the progress of their improvement work.

·       Partner with other regional CORE staff to support districts in creating coherence between Tier I instruction and intervention and special education services.

·       Collaborate with TDOE department leads on the creation of resources and materials to support district improvement for SWD.

·       Collaborate with CORE regional support team to coordinate supports for districts.

·       Engage in learning opportunities to continuously improve individual and group performance.

·       Deep working knowledge of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA)

·       Ability to recognize grade level expectations of the Tennessee Academic Standards and articulate how those expectations should impact long-term planning for students with disabilities

·       Ability to use coaching to assist district and school leaders in diagnosing instructional needs specific to special education and to facilitate the creation of plans to address those needs.

·       Ability to generate research-based, action-oriented recommendations for school and district leaders.

·       Knowledge of system-level change and ability to identify systemic needs and support continuous improvement

·       Self-motivated to actively participate in solving problems, sharing trends and best practices, and contributing to the work of a team

 The duties will primarily be carried out indoors, in environmentally controlled conditions. The employee will be required to perform general physical abilities and handle and move objects.

This is a full-time position. Expected work hours are 37.5 hours per week, from 8-4:30pm with an hour lunch break.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Purchases all supplies, equipment, and services for the school by preparing requisitions, purchase orders, and receipts. Screens all requisitions and purchases orders for accuracy and proper justification and approvals.
  • Enters and maintains Agency Term Contracts when required by the Central Procurement Office, writes product specifications for use in bidding competitively with vendors for supplies, equipment, and services.   • Troubleshooting and repairing technology equipment at a such as computing devices, printers, videophones, interactive boards, and other peripherals at an intermediate level.
  • Documents frequently asked questions for general staff reference and detailed problem-solving steps for other Technology staff reference.
  • Collects data related to support requests to identify problem services or equipment and training needs.
