The Tennessee statewide "Free Fishing Day" is Saturday, June 6th. No fishing license is required on this date. The Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited in cooperation with the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will be sponsoring Kids Fish Free Day at Miller Island. The activities will take place at the TVA Miller Island Access on the Clinch River in Norris.

Volunteers will be on hand to teach kids to bait, spin, and fly fish. Some equipment will be available for loan to children who may not have any, but would like to try fishing for the first time. This event is suitable even if you know how to fish, but would like to learn more about trout fishing. Other activities will include fly tying demonstrations, aquatic entomology displays, big hunts, casting lessons, boat rides, and folks to discuss stream ecology.
