TWRA Region 1 (West Tennessee) Dove Fields

Bogota

Crops planted: 44 acres of millet. 

Hunt dates: Opens at noon on Sept 5 for youths 16 and under accompanied by a non-hunting adult. Multiple youths may accompany the adult as long as youths are within reach. Season open Sept. 6 thereafter to coincide with statewide seasons. Millet planted late under wet conditions, few doves.

Directions: From Dyersburg, go North on Hwy. 78 to Hwy. 103; turn West and go to Barbwire Road; turn left and follow the signs to the field. 

WMA Small Game Permit required.

Cypress Pond Refuge

Crops planted : 20 acres of sunflowers.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Open with the statewide seasons except closed to all forms of use and trespass from Nov. 15 through the last day of Feb.

Directions: (SE Decatur County) - Take Hwy. 412 to Hwy. 100; go south toward Decaturville. Follow the signs to the dove field. Small sunflower heads and few seed due to weather.

WMA Small Game Permit required.

Harmon Creek

Crops planted : 15 acres of millet. The millet field will not be ready until Sept. 19.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Open with the statewide seasons.

Directions: (Benton County) - From the court square in Camden go east on Eva Rd. approximately 7 to 8 miles. Turn left on Eva Flatwood Rd. and go approximately 3 miles. Turn right on Harmon Creek Rd. and go approximately 4 miles. Turn right on Harmon Creek Church Rd. Follow the signs to the field.

WMA Small Game Permit required.

Horns Bluff Refuge

Crops planted: 7 acres of millet.
  
Hunt dates: Open with the statewide seasons (Season opens at 12:00 noon on September 1) except closed to all forms of use and trespass from Nov. 15 through the last day of Feb.

Directions: (Crockett/Gibson Counties) - From Alamo, take Hwy. 54 North and turn left on Gibson Wells Road; follow the signs to the field.

A WMA Small Game Permit is NOT required.

John Tully

Crops planted: 80 acres of sunflowers.

Hunt dates: Opens September 5 at 12:00 noon - remainder of the statewide dove season.

Directions: From the junction of Hwy. 51 and Hwy. 87 in Henning, go 7 miles west on Hwy. 87. At Three Points turn right on Sunk Lake Road; go 5 miles and follow the dove signs. There are 2 (40 acre) fields. One 40 acre field is "Youth Only", the other is for adults. Fields are designated.

A WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Moss Island

Crops planted : 75 acres of burned wheat. 

Hunt dates: Season opens at 12:00 noon on September 1. Open with the statewide seasons, except closed during big game hunts.

Directions: From Dyersburg, go west 14 miles on Hwy. 104 to Hwy. 181 (Great River Road); go south on Hwy. 181 for 8 miles to Moss Island Rd.; turn left and go 1.5 miles to the field.

A WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Parker Branch

Crops planted: 18 acres of sunflowers.

Hunt dates: Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon. Same as the statewide seasons.

Directions: From Trenton, take Hwy. 186 and go 3.3 miles toward Gibson.

A WMA small game permit is NOT required.

Walnut Log TWRA Lands (Reelfoot Area)

Crops planted : 24 acres of millet. 

Hunt dates: Same as the statewide seasons. Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon.

Directions: Field located off Hwy. 157, behind the USFWS Reelfoot Refuge office. Late crop due to weather, few dove.

WMA Small Game Permit NOT required. 

West Sandy

Crops planted : 12 acres of millet. 

Hunt dates: Same as the statewide seasons. Opens September 1 at 12:00 noon.

Directions: From Paris take Hwy. 69 east toward Big Sandy for Approximately 3 miles. Turn left on Old Union Rd. past the J.C. Hill Grocery Store and go approximately 6 miles. Follow the sighns to the field.

WMA Small Game Permit required. 

White Oak

Crops planted : 20 acres of sunflowers.

Hunt dates: Opens Sept. 5 at 12:00 noon and remainder of the statewide dove season. 

Directions: (Northwest Hardin County) - Fields located off McCollough Rd. on the Southwest portion of the WMA, and Crooked Creek Lane, off Marshall Dr. The WMA is located Southeast of Milledgeville off Hwy. 69.

A WMA Small Game Permit is required.

Wolf River

Crops planted : 30 acres of sunflowers. 

Hunt dates: Opens Sept. 5 at 12:00 noon and remainder of statewide season.

Directions: (Fayette County ) - Fields located off of Beasley Road; follow the signs; south of LaGrange.

A WMA Small Game Permit is required.
