HOW TO REQUEST A LOAN
- Loans are made only to public and academic libraries, not to individuals.
- Libraries may submit requests on an ALA ILL form, a faxed ALA form, via OCLC, or via AGENT. PLEASE NOTE that TSLA cannot accept interlibrary loan requests submitted via e-mail.
- Materials loaned by TSLA MAY NOT leave the borrowing library. Patrons may use the TSLA materials ONLY in the borrowing library. No exceptions will be made to this policy.
- TSLA lends materials to Tennessee libraries whenever possible. We lend Tennessee-related material and other selected items to out-of-state libraries whenever possible.
- TSLA will not loan out books or published materials more than 80 years old (currently, no items published prior to 1927).
- TSLA does not loan published family histories or published genealogies (i.e. the CS call number series).
- TSLA reserves the right to restrict the loaning of selected materials.
- Employees of the state of Tennessee may borrow selected materials from the TSLA collection only if they are required for work-related research.

FEES
- We do not have a lending fee. However, we ask that the material be insured upon return.
- Photocopies of microfilmed material are not provided via Interlibrary Loan. Patrons should contact our Research Services office directly.
LENDING PERIOD
- Materials are loaned for 30 days.
LENDING LIMIT
- A library may borrow up to five items at a time (books and/or microfilm reels).
OTHER INFORMATION
- TSLA may negotiate exceptions to the lending policy when there is a special need. Please e-mail our Interlibrary Loan service if you have a special situation.
- The Tennessee Interlibrary Loan Code and objectives of TENN-SHARE are followed whenever possible.
TENNESSEE NEWSPAPERS
The Tennessee State Library and Archives will loan microfilmed Tennessee newspapers to libraries in Tennessee. TSLA does not loan newspaper microfilm to libraries outside of Tennessee. The index Newspapers on Microfilm at the Tennessee State Library and Archives is available on our web site.
TSLA will loan newspaper microfilm to a library in Tennessee if we hold the negative of the microfilm reel. The listed date ranges for the newspapers below are not available for loan to libraries inside or outside of Tennessee.
