The Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA), in conjunction with the University of Tennessee ’s County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS), is offering the fifth annual training program on archives and records management.

The 2004 TENNESSEE ARCHIVES INSTITUTE is designed to be a two and one-half day introduction to basic archives management issues for local government records keepers.

The 2004 Tennessee Archives Institute will focus on techniques for setting up a database for your archives, promoting and fundraising for your archives, showcasing your collection with exhibits, staffing your archives with volunteers, and space planning. Training is conducted by qualified archivists and conservators. Participants who complete the three-year cycle of courses will receive certification as Archives Managers from TSLA and CTAS.

The 2004 Tennessee Archives Institute is intended primarily for county and municipal archivists. However, records managers, historians, and genealogists, as well as county or municipal executives and clerks who serve on public records commissions, will also find the information invaluable.
