CUMBERLAND COUNTY I-40 West near MM 326, construction of a truck climbing lane, including grading, drainage, construction of retaining walls and paving:   The contractor continues to work on punch list items with no lane closures expected at this time. Work may involve periodic closures of the outside shoulder. The newly constructed truck climbing lane has been opened to motorists.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY SR-101 (Peavine Road) grading, drainage, and paving from Firetower Road to Westchester/Catoosa Boulevard:   As grade work progresses, motorists should be alert for shifts in traffic patterns to allow for construction activities. Current activities include paving activities, utility relocation, grade work, storm drain, base stone, and curb and gutter. Temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages may be needed to support ongoing work. Motorists should reduce speeds on Peavine Road and be alert for construction personnel and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.  Estimated project completion date is November 2020.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY US-127 (SR-28) from Plateau Road (LM 22.68) to the bridge over Clear Creek (LM 30.50) and SR-298 from north of Redmond Lane (LM 6.75) to south of Roy McCoy Road (LM 12.38) resurfacing (microsurfacing):   Remaining activities include permanent pavement markings, installation of guardrail, and placement of delineators. Lane closures with flaggers may be needed.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

DEKALB COUNTY The resurfacing (microsurfacing) on SR-83 from SR-146 (LM 0.00) to SR-56 (LM 7.83):   Contractor is scheduled to begin microsurfacing on SR-83 this week. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages during this time. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone, and to be alert of all construction personnel, equipment and vehicles.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

FENTRESS COUNTY SR-28 Construction of an acceleration lane (LM 21) and safety improvements near the Jamestown City limits (LM 20.78) to the Pickett County line (LM 33.58):   Contractor is scheduled to complete guardrail installation on SR 28 between LM 20.78 and 33.58 this week. Contractor will use flaggers and shut SR 28 down to one lane to complete this work.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

FENTRESS AND OVERTON COUNTY Resurfacing: SR-85 from west of SR-164 (LM 22.00) to west of Old Grimsley Road AND SR-164 from south of Roger Norrod Lane (LM 8.72) to SR-85 (LM 13.72):   Contractor is paving mainline asphalt this week. Lane closures and flaggers will be used to accommodate this work. Motorists are encouraged to obey speed limit and watch for construction operations in the roadway. OVERTON COUNTY SR-136 Resurfacing from SR-85 (LM 9.21) to SR-52 (LM 16.6):   Contractor has not scheduled any work this week. Contractor will be performing scoring for rumble stripes on 10/02/18. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

OVERTON COUNTY SR-52 grading, drainage, signals and paving from near Oakley-Allons Road (LM 6.58) to SR-111 (LM 10.23):   Contractor will be on site to perform miscellaneous work as required to complete project. PUTNAM COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on I-40 westbound from MM 291 to MM 298:   Crews will be repairing the shoulder on Thursday 09/20/18. West-bound traffic will be reduced to one lane between 7 AM and 4 PM

 

WHITE COUNTY The resurfacing on US-70 (SR-1) from LM 7.69 to LM 10.61; US-70 (SR-26) from LM 9.82 to LM 10.79; and SR-84 from US-70 (SR-1) LM 0.00 to LM 0.12:   Contractor is currently replacing sidewalk along SR-1, and performing milling operations throughout the project. Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and traffic stoppages during this time. Flaggers will be present to assist with traffic control as needed. Motorists are advised to observe the posted speed limits when entering the work zone, and to be alert of all construction personnel, equipment and vehicles. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

WHITE COUNTY US-70 (SR-26) intersection improvements at SR-111 in Sparta:   The right shoulder of SR-26 eastbound is closed near the SR-111 northbound off-ramp. The contractor will be cleaning up the work site in the vicinity of the SR-26/SR-111 Northbound intersection. Motorists should be alert and use caution around construction personnel and equipment. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

COFFEE COUNTY Utility Work on I-24 both directions from MM 100.2 to MM 100.2:   A rolling roadblock on I-24 for an aerial crossing. on Tuesday 9/25/18 from 10 am -2 pm with a rainout date of Wednesday  9/26/18 from 10 am - 2 pm.

 

FRANKLIN COUNTY SR-127 the construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over the Elk River (LM 6.21), including grading, drainage and paving:   Work on this project continues. The contractor will be setting a girder on the bridge on Monday 9/24/18 sometime between 1PM-3PM CDT. During the time the girder is set, the road will be closed for a period of 15 minutes.  RESTRICTIONS: Bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice. Estimated project completion date is December 2018.

FRANKLIN COUNTY US-64BR (SR-15) resurfacing from US-41A (SR-16) (LM 13.7) to west of Money Lane (LM 18.3):   The work on this project has started and will continue Monday thru Saturday 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM, weather permitting. The contractor may have lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers. GRUNDY COUNTY I-24 sliplining of culverts at various locations between mile markers 129 and 134:   The contractor will be working on the sliplining project on I-24 of culverts at various locations between MM 129 and 134. GRUNDY COUNTY SR-50 slide repair at log mile 9.9:   Slide repair is underway on SR-50, in Grundy County from the 9.4 MM to the 10.0 MM. The roadway is reduced to one lane. Temporary traffic lights are controlling traffic. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

GRUNDY/MARION COUNTY Rolling Road Block on I-24 West beginning at Exit 152 in Kimball (Marion County) to MM 130.5 in Grundy County:   On Sunday morning, September 23, 2018, TDOT Maintenance crews will assist with the recovery of a tractor trailer that went over an embankment at mile marker 130.5 in Grundy County approximately three weeks ago.  Beginning at 6:00 a.m. CDT at Exit 152 (Kimball) in Marion County, TDOT crews will pace traffic with the use of a rolling road block to allow the wrecker company adequate time to recover the tractor trailer from the embankment at mile marker 130.5 in Grundy County.  While interstate traffic will not be totally stopped during the rolling road block, it will average a speed of only 8 m.p.h., so traffic congestion is expected.  The Tennessee Highway Patrol will assist with traffic control.  Additionally, TDOT Queue trucks, overhead Dynamic Message Signs and portable message boards will be used during this recovery work, which is expected to take approximately two hours.  If the recovery of the tractor trailer is not complete when the paced traffic arrives at Exit 135 (Monteagle/Tracy City) at approximately 8:15 a.m. CDT, traffic may be reduced to one lane and the work will continue with one lane open to avoid a complete stoppage of traffic on the interstate.  Marion, Grundy and Franklin county emergency and law enforcement personnel have been notified of this event.  If weather or unforeseen circumstances prevent this work from being done, it will be rescheduled to take place at a later date.

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-108 resurfacing from SR-56 (LM 12.02) to west of Eagle Lake Road (LM 15.00), including addition of a turn lane:   The contractor will be constructing an additional turning lane and resurfacing SR 108 at this location. SR 108 will be reduced to one lane controlled by a flagging operation when workers are present.  Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

 

GRUNDY COUNTY SR-56 resurfacing from north of Collins River bridge (LM 28.96) to the Warren County line (LM 33.88):   This work will result in the road being reduced to 1 lane during day time hours. While work is ongoing, traffic will be controlled by a flagging operation and a pilot car, to assist the motoring public.  Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

MARION COUNTY I-24 miscellaneous safety improvements from SR-156 (MM 161) to the Georgia State line (MM 167):   Beginning August 19 and continuing through October 31st, the Contractor will be working on I24 East bound and West bound between the Tennessee Line in Hamilton County and Exit 161 in Marion County. The work will be conducted from Sunday night through Friday morning starting at 8PM Central and ending at 5AM Central Time each morning. The contractor will have intermittent lane closures throughout the night as they delineates the guardrail and installs new signs.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

 

MARION COUNTY I-24 WB resurfacing from the Grundy County line (MM 127) to east of the bridge over Cave Cove Creek (MM 134):   Progress work will continue on this project. The contractor will have lane closures in order to perform the necessary work. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly with State Trooper support on Sundays through Fridays between the hours of 7PM and 6AM. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers. Safety personnel will be present. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

 

MARION COUNTY SR-156 over Running Water Creek (LM 25.58) bridge rehabilitation:   SR-156 is reduced to one lane across Running Water Creek Bridge and controlled with a temporary traffic signal while the bridge is repaired. From September 24th through October 12th The contractor will have intermittent lane closures of the one travel lane fro 15 to 30 minutes at a time to remove material from the bridge. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: Reduced to one 12-ft lane.

WARREN COUNTY SR-8 over Collins River (LM 8.14) Bridge Repair:   The bridge is currently reduced to one 11-ft. lane to allow the contractor to repair the existing bridge. While the bridge is down to one lane, traffic will be maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Motorists should expect periodic delays and use caution in the work zone. RESTRICTIONS: One 11-foot lane. Estimated project completion date is August 2019.

BRADLEY COUNTY SR-2 resurfacing on U.S. 11 from near Anatole Lane (LM 15.15) to south of Old Highway 11 (LM 18.20):   The contractor will have one lane closed as the contractor starts milling and paving the roadway. They will be working at nights from 8PM- 6 AM. THP will assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-24 East and West drainage improvement from MM 173 to 175:   The drainage improvement project at Exit 174 is underway. There will be lane closures along US-41 in the vicinity of the interchange.  Ramps will remain open but could be subject to width and lane restrictions.  Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY I-75 North Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration project at mile marker 1:   Work on this project continues. There is now only one exit ramp that allows drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road at a signalized intersection. Traffic has been shifted onto the newly constructed portion of Camp Jordan Pkwy., and the intersection (I-75 NB off-ramp and SR-8/Camp Jordan Pkwy.) is now controlled by a traffic signal. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-27 (I-124) widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge Work on this project continues with numerous activities occurring in the median of US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and leaving the left traffic lane in both the northbound and southbound directions.

The 12th Street tie-in ramp to US-27 South has been temporarily closed through September and detours are posted.

On Thursday, 9/20/18 and Friday 9/21/19 between 9AM and 4PM, the contractor will have a lane closure on the outside lanes of the Olgiati Bridge on U.S. 27 North and South to work on the bridge struts underneath the bridge. Traffic will use the two inside lanes in each direction.  In addition to the outside lane closures on the Olgiati Bridge, some ramps will be affected during the work.

On Thursday night 09/20/18 from 7PM to 6AM and Friday night 09/21/18 from 7PM through Saturday 09/22/18 at 12 noon, there will be temporary ramp closures in the vicinity of 4th Street for removing the center island between the southbound 4th Street off- and on-ramps and installing temporary paving. Detours will be posted.

Weather permitting, the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27.

Motorists should pay close attention to any detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is January 2020.

HAMILTON COUNTY US-127 (SR-8) slope repair of Signal Mountain Blvd. at log mile 15.9:   During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed while performing slope stabilization operations. Temporary traffic signals are in place on either end of the project to control traffic. Additionally the speed limit has been lowered to 20 MPH in the construction zone. Additional flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY Utility Work on SR-8 (SIGNAL MOUNTAIN RD.) both directions from LM 12.8 to LM 12.8:   Lane closures to perform utility work on Signal Mountain Road at the intersection of Old Signal Mountain Rd/Raider Lane. Work will occur nightly from 9 pm to 4 am, 9/20/18-9/28/18. Motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and workers.

 

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-153 resurfacing from I-75 (LM 0.00) to Shallowford Road (LM 2.60), including bridge deck repair:   This project will involve nightly lane closures (8 PM to 6AM) to support the project activities. This will involve both NB & SB lane closures, Sunday through Thursday. Additionally, a ramp and bridge repair activity may require lane closures through the entire weekend starting Friday, 9/21 at 8 PM.  Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

HAMILTON COUNTY cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on US-11 (US-64, SR-2), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on US-127 (SR-8), and the Bachman Tubes on US-41 (US-76, SR-8):   The McCallie Tunnel will be closed for cleaning on Wednesday, 09/19/18 (8 PM to 6 AM). This will involve a flagging operation, with one way traffic. Also, the Stringers Ridge tunnel will be cleaned 09/19/18 (8 PM to 6 AM). Bachman Tubes will be cleaned on 09/20/18 (8 PM to 6 AM). Both the Stringer's Ridge and the Bachman Tube cleaning will have a signed detour to direct traffic.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

HAMILTON COUNTY SR-320 (East Brainerd Road) grading, drainage, installation of signals, construction of seven retaining walls and paving from east of Graysville Road to east of Bel-Air Road:   During this report period, the contractor will have intermittent lane closures between 9AM-2PM. This work may affect either direction of East Brainerd Road or side streets from Graysville Road to Bel-Air Road. HAMILTON COUNTY US-11/64 SR-2 (Brainerd Rd./Lee Hwy.) resurfacing from east of Moore Road (LM 13.85) to east of Airport Road (LM 15.84):   The contractor has begun lowering manholes and catch basins. This will take place Monday through Friday between 9AM and 3PM. This work may affect either direction of US-11/64 (Brainerd Road/Lee Highway) between Moore Rd. and Airport Rd. The contractor has begun milling operations and will continue through 09/23/18 in which the contractor will have intermittent lane closures for resurfacing operations Sunday through Thursday from 8PM to 6AM. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed.  Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-30, grading, drainage and paving on SR-30 from Jackson Street to east of Knight Road in Athens:   Traffic along SR-30 through the project's length has been restricted to one lane in each direction with turning lanes provided at critical intersections and business access. This phase one construction activity has all traffic on the previous westbound side of SR-30. All businesses are provided with accessibility. There will be a signed detour of Elizabeth St. to support a utility installation during the reporting period. This could slightly impact SR30 traffic. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

MCMINN COUNTY I-75 resurfacing from south of SR-30 (MM 48.69/LM 13.75) to north of County Road 267 (MM 55.44/LM 20.50):   There will be lane closures at night from 7 PM-6 AM Sunday- Thursday night as the contractor works on paving the roadway on I-75 in the Northbound lanes first then moving to the Southbound lanes. There will be State Troopers out on the project during working hours. The speed limit has been changed from 70 MPH to 60 MPH in the project limits. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

MCMINN COUNTY SR-305 resurfacing from west of US-11 (SR-2) (LM 2.86) to west of I-75 (LM 5.00):   The contractor will start working on this project. There will be a lane closed on this project starting at LM 4.7(Sunoco Store) and going South during this reporting period. As the contractor works, there will be temporary closures of side roads in the areas that the contractor will be working. The traveling public needs to be aware of the flaggers and the traffic control on this project. Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

MEIGS COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-58 (STATE HWY. 58) northbound from LM 5.22 to LM 5.22:   A consultant from Structures will be looking at the bearings on the SR-58 bridge over the Hiwassee River on Thursday, 09/20/18, at LM 5.22 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This work will require a lane closure.

 

POLK COUNTY US-64 (SR-40) construction of a concrete bulb-tee beam bridge over Branch and TOHA Old Line railroad (LM 24.85), including grading, drainage and paving:   The contractor has cut the embankment for the retaining wall. The Pinecrest Road intersection has been closed. There are posted detour signs for residents to get to their homes on Pinecrest Road. This road will be closed during the duration of the construction of the retaining wall on US64. There will be intermittent lane closures on the project as trucks will be entering the road and the contractor will be working on utility lines that cross US64. Estimated project completion date is May 2019.

RHEA COUNTY TDOT Maintenance on SR-30 (STATE HWY. 30) eastbound from LM 17.26 to LM 17.26:   Bridge inspection will be performing its 2-year inspection on the SR-30 bridge over the Tennessee River at LM 17.26 from Monday, 9/24/18, through Thursday, 9/27/18. The shoulders will be closed for this inspection.

 

RHEA COUNTY Utility Work on SR-30 (WASHINGTON ST.) both directions from LM 12.48 to LM 12.89:   Short term closures east & west bound for utility work between White Oak/New Union Road and Sky Drive. 9/20/18 - 9/26/18, 8 am -3 pm.

 

RHEA COUNTY SR-29 Improvement at Cawood Road (LM 27.3) including grading, drainage, and paving; resurfacing from south of Vanns Creek Road/Hoyal Road (LM 23.4) to north of Haskel Road (LM 25.3):   Work on this project is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 13th. Lane Closures affecting both SB & NB traffic (LM 2.3 to LM 2.5, 9AM - 3PM) will be required to support restriping & temporary barrier rail installation. This activity should be completed in a day but consideration for weather necessitates permission for lane closures through Friday, September 21st.  Estimated project completion date is November 2018.

RHEA AND BLEDSOE COUNTY US-27 (Rhea Co.) and SR-30 (Bledsoe Co.) resurfacing:   The project limits include SR-30 from east of Porch Rock Road (LM 16.43) to the Rhea County line (LM 18.43) in Bledsoe County and US-27 (SR-29) from north of Black Oaks Estates Drive (LM 2.50) to north of SR-60 (LM 4.90) in Rhea County. The work on the Bledsoe project is suspended until later in the month; all milling & paving complete. Work continues on the Rhea County project (SR29) project. This is to be a nighttime operation (Sun - Fri) from 8 PM to 6 AM requiring lane closures. Estimated project completion date is October 2018.

REGION 2 TDOT Maintenance pothole repair and pavement patching:   There will be possible short-term emergency lane closures at various locations in Region 2 in order to repair potholes and patch pavement on an as-needed basis. Depending on location and severity these repairs may be done during the day or at night. In addition to performing the work, regional Operations crews will also provide traffic control.

REGION 2 on-call cable barrier repair on various interstate and state routes:   The contractor may have short term shoulder closures in order to perform cable rail repair. Both travel lanes will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate during any work that is performed.  Estimated project completion date is December 2018.

REGION 2 on-call guardrail repair and new guardrail installation on various interstate and state routes:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform guardrail repair. These closures will take place on the interstate nightly from 7PM to 6AM Sundays through Thursdays and daily on State Routes. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times on the Interstate, and flaggers will be present on State Routes during any work that is performed.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

REGION 2 preventative and unscheduled maintenance of Chattanooga SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System:   The contractor may have short term shoulder and/or lane closures in order to perform preventative or unscheduled maintenance to the local SmartWay Intelligent Transportation System. Work hours are 9AM to 3:30PM. At least one travel lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as needed. Estimated project completion date is October 2019.

REGION 2 sweeping and drain cleaning on various interstate and state routes:   There will be mobile lane closures supporting a sweeping operation along regional interstates and highways through this reporting period. Additionally, there will be a drain cleaning operation requiring lane closures along SR-153 (Hamilton, LM 3.0 to LM 6.0) & US-27 (Marion county, LM 2.40 - 3.14)during this period. The section of I-24 on Mt Eagle (MM 127 - 134) and around Nickajack bridge(MM 160 -161) could also be subject to drain cleaning. There is also a possibility of drain cleaning along I-40 in Putnam county (MM 267 -MM 274 & MM 295 - MM 297). Both the sweeping & drain cleaning activities will happen Sunday - Thursday (8PM - 6AM).  Estimated project completion date is February 2019.

REGION 2 On-call concrete pavement repair:   Starting on Friday September 21st at 8PM and continuing until Monday September 24th at 6AM, Vulcan Materials Company will be repairing concrete pavement on I-24 Eastbound in lane number 3 (the right most lane) from MM 182.4 to MM 182.8 in Chattanooga. The area of work is to the west of exit 183 (Germantown Rd/Belvoir Ave). Vulcan Materials will be saw cutting the existing concrete slabs, removing those slabs, and pouring new concrete. Due to the location of the work zone we will need to close down lanes #2 and #3 while the contractor is actively working. On Friday at 8:00 PM ET through Saturday afternoon the right two lanes will be closed down leaving lane number one (the left most lane) open to traffic. On Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, while the concrete is curing, the middle lane will be opened back up leaving two lanes open to traffic. Tennessee Highway Patrol, a truck mounted attenuator with message board, and a queue truck with message board will be on site during the project.  Estimated project completion date is March 2019.

REGION 2 On-call signing:   The contractor will be working on I 24 East and West bound between 177.0 and 185.0 mile marker from Tuesday 9/18 through Thursday 9/20 from 8 pm to 6 am each night. All closures not to exceed 2 miles in length and 1 closure at a time per direction of travel. THP will assist with traffic control.  Estimated project completion date is June 2019.

REGION 2 The retracing of painted pavement marking lines on various Interstate and State Routes:   The contractor will retrace existing roadway striping in Jackson, Overton, and Pickett Counties, resulting in temporary lane closures each day. This will include the following routes in Jackson County: SR-53, SR-56, SR-85, SR-135, and SR-262; the following routes in Overton County: SR-52, SR-84, SR-136, and SR-293; and the following routes in Pickett County: SR-52, SR-154, SR-295, and SR325. Motorists should use caution around construction equipment and pay attention to all construction signage. Estimated project completion date is September 2018.

FENTRESS AND OVERTON COUNTY - CNS939: Loads wider than 10' should seek alternate route.

FRANKLIN COUNTY - CNR044: Bridge will be reduced to one 10.5’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.

FRANKLIN COUNTY - CNQ930: The bridge is reduced to one 9’ lane and controlled with a temporary traffic signal until further notice.

WARREN COUNTY - CNQ270: Reduced to one 12-ft lane.

WARREN COUNTY - CNS254: One 11-foot lane.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and obey reduced speed limits in all TDOT work zones, regardless of lane closure activity.
