JACKSON, Tenn. – Tennessee Department of Transportation contract crews will close lanes on Interstate 40 in Fayette County this weekend in order to shift traffic for the bridge construction project on SR 196 over the interstate. The closures are as follows:

Friday, April 20, 8:00 p.m. through Monday, April 23, 6:00 a.m.:

·         I-40 westbound will be reduced to one lane at mile marker 31 and shifted to the eastbound lanes where there will be one lane each direction through the project. This will allow the contractor to set beams over the westbound lanes. The speed limit has been reduced to 60MPH. There will be a 16’ width restriction in place.

This work is weather dependent.

This work is part of the $15.9 million project to build a new interchange at SR 196, the future Exit 29. The estimated completion date for this job is October 31, 2018.
