THP Trooper School Information: Qualifications
To qualify to be a Tennessee Highway Patrol State Trooper, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- 21 Years of Age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent Health
- 20/100 Uncorrected Vision Each Eye
- 20/30 Corrected Vision or Better
- No Felony Convictions
- Pass a Written Civil Service Exam
- Pass an Oral Interview Board
- Pass a Background Investigation
- Pass a Physical Exam
- Pass a Psychological Exam
- Pass a Physical Agility Test
- Pass a Drug Test
- Must Accept Assignment Anywhere in Tennessee
- Must Possess a Valid Drivers License (Out of State applicants must obtain a Tennessee Driver License by Date of Employment)
