Man Wanted in Illinois Captured in Hamilton County

Nashville, Tennessee --- A Tennessee man wanted in Chicago, Illinois, on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, is in custody in Hamilton County.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2007, Trooper William Collins investigated a crash that occurred at 5600 Little Debbie Parkway in Collegedale, TN. A dump truck hit a railroad trestle at that location, and its driver, 52-year-old Mel W. Frazier of Apison, TN, suffered minor injuries. After Trooper Collins investigated the crash, he went to the Erlanger Medical Center to check on Frazier. At the hospital, Trooper Collins learned Frazier’s true identity and discovered that he is wanted in Illinois for attempted murder, as well as attempted aggravated arson and aggravated battery in a public place.

Frazier was taken into custody without incident. Once released from the hospital, he was transported and booked into the Hamilton County Jail.
