  Financial Responsibility FAQ's

Question 2

Question: How do I pay my driver license reinstatement fees on the Internet?

Answer: If your driving privileges are already revoked/suspended/canceled, you may pay your reinstatement fees over the Internet. To do so you must follow the following criteria:

  1. Know the last name as it appears on the driver license, the Tennessee driver license number, and driver's date of birth
  2. Have a valid Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express.

NOTE: You can only pay your state reinstatement fees through the Internet site. If you owe fines or costs to the courts, you will need to contact the court directly to determine any additional fees and where to pay.

***To pay online, go to www.tennesseeanytime.org/reindl.***

Question 3

Question: How do I take action against the driving privileges of the driver/owner who contributed to the occurrence of the crash and has not reimbursed me for damages?

Answer: You should mail a copy of the investigating officer's crash report and a copy of your estimate of damages to:
                                           Financial Responsibility Division
                                           Tennessee Department of Safety
                                           1150 Foster Ave.
                                           Nashville, TN 37249
The documents will be reviewed and determined if action will be taken against the driver/owner. Processing takes approximately 90 days from mailing. All damage claims must be filed 90 days prior to the accident being three years old.

If a follow-up to action being taken by the department is desired, then it should be requested in writing or you can call (615)741-3954 to speak to a safety examiner.
