Recovery Services & Planning

  • Recovery Services & Planning is a community-based services division of the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (TDMHDD). The division creates, expands, and oversees the development, implementation and expansion of quality Support, Employment/Education, Transportation and Housing services and options across Tennessee for persons diagnosed with mental illness or co-occurring disorders.
  • The Division of Recovery Services and Planning incorporates and promotes the implementation of prevention and intervention strategies, evidence-based modalities, best practices and targeted outcomes. Another responsibility includes the Behavioral Health Safety Net of TN —a program that provides key mental health services for Tennesseans with serious and persistent mental illness who are uninsured. Community mental health agencies across the state contract with TDMHDD to provide this limited set of mental health services to assist individuals with serious mental illness in leading functional, productive lives.
  • The Office of Planning coordinates TDMHDD planning activities and responsibilities, including the development of the Three Year Plan, the Annual Strategic Plan, and the Mental Health Block Grant application and Annual Report. The office also coordinates the annual assessment of the public's need for mental health / developmental disability services and supports required by TDMHDD law. Planning staff support and coordinate the activities of the TDMHDD Planning and Policy Council, state and regional Mental Health Planning and Policy Councils, and state and regional Developmental Disabilities Planning and Policy Councils.
