Tennessee Strategic
Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG)
State Epidemiological
Workgroup (SEW)
The SPF-SIG State Epidemiological Workgroup
(SEW), voluntarily chaired by Fred Springer, PhD, a renowned prevention
researcher, includes a robust cadre of data-use experts bolstered by
prevention leaders known for their expertise in data-driven decision making.
Through its needs assessment, Tennessee’s SEW
used a criteria which examined alcohol and other drug consumption,
consequences and the community’s capacity to address those problems, and
identified 30 counties to receive SPF-SIG sub-grants that have the highest
need and the capacity to immediately begin work to address their needs. In
addition, capacity-building technical assistance, training and support
services will be provided to 15 additional counties that show the next
highest need but do not currently include a suitable organizational
structure.
