Description

This three day, 24+ hour course is designed to increase an officer’s ability to deal with lethal force threats when employing duty weapons.  This should be considered an advanced level course and attending officers should be well grounded in safe, realistic weapons manipulations in both static and dynamic scenarios.  There will be a basic competency qualification the morning of the first day during which attending officers must display safe weapons handling skills prior to proceeding in the course.  All officers from Patrol level through SWAT will benefit from this course.

 

TOPICS:  Handgun module consisting of:  low percentage shot engagement, increasing engagement speed, expanding ability to engage threats from positions likely to be encountered on the street, low light section with an emphasis on weapons mounted lights.  Vehicle ballistics lab and tactics for counter ambush.  Carbine module:  proper weapon setup, low percentage shot engagement, increasing speed, expanding ability to engage from unorthodox positions.

Materials

Participants must bring the following: 

 

  • Eye and ear protection
  • Assigned duty gear (minimum holster and two magazine pouches)
  • Issued duty sidearm
  • Issued AR type patrol rifle
  • 800 rounds pistol ammunition
  • 400 rounds rifle ammunition
