TOSHA Employment Opportunities

The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Division (TOSHA) currently has 102 total positions. Approximately 50 of these are entry level positions classified as Occupational Safety Specialist or Industrial Hygienist. These positions are located across the State in six field offices in Chattanooga, Jackson, Kingsport, Knoxville, Memphis, and Nashville.

The minimum qualifications for Occupational Safety Specialist 1 are: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial engineering, or other acceptable field; qualifying full-time professional occupational safety inspection experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.

The minimum qualifications for Industrial Hygienist 1 are: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, chemistry, biology, physical science, environmental health, or a related field; qualifying full-time professional industrial hygiene compliance inspection or related experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.
