When a natural disaster occurs, the Governor may request federal assistance for the counties
affected by the disaster.
If the president declared a disaster, the department of Labor and Workforce
Development will issue a news release announcing the disaster information.
Individuals who are unemployed as a direct result of a natural disaster may file for dua.
The applicant must report to the local office and present proof of employment, such as a w-2 form, income tax returns, business license, sales tax forms, check stubs, and at least two items as proof of identity.
A written decision will be issued to the applicant as notification of approval or denial of DUA benefits.
