Public Hearings Scheduled for State’s Proposed Low Income Home Energy Assistance and Weatherization Assistance Programs
The Tennessee Department of Human Services will conduct public hearings to receive comments on the state’s proposed State Plans for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides assistance to meet the cost of utility bills for eligible low-income individuals and families. The Weatherization Assistance Program provides assistance to low income households to reduce their fuel costs through increased home energy efficiency and consumer education. Services are provided through contracts with local governments and non-profit agencies.

Written comments on the proposed State Plans will be accepted until the conclusion of the public hearings.
Any individual with a disability who wishes to participate in the public hearings should contact the DHS to discuss any auxiliary aids or services needed to facilitate such participation. Such contact may be in person, by writing, or telephoning DHS prior to the date of the public hearing to allow time for DHS staff to provide assistance.
