EQUIPMENT

We are moving . . . .

We are recycling a lot of records . . . .

We have a lot of trash to get rid of . . . .

Can you send us some of those big mail carts?

Sorry, the answer is no. All equipment is clearly marked “ Property of the U.S. Postal Services” and it is illegal to use postal equipment for any purpose other than transporting U.S. Mail. The violation is punishable by law.

PRE-METERED ENVELOPES

Can I get some empty envelopes metered to enclose as a return to my agency?

Yes, you can, however, there are postal requirements that must be met. The U.S. Postal Service requires all mail to bear a current date. In order to pre-meter an envelope the date is left blank. To apply postage without a date, the following endorsement must be mechanically reproduced (handwriting, typewriting or hand stamping is not acceptable) on the envelope:

      NO POSTAGE STAMP NECESSARY
      POSTAGE HAS BEEN PREPAID BY

      State of Tennessee
      Department of xxxxx
      xxxx Tennessee Avenue
      Nashville TN 37243-0000
