Challenge Timeline: November 23 through January 4
Festive parties and holiday treats can add up to a lot of fun and extra pounds. Maintain-- Don’t Gain! will help you be more active and eat healthfully so you maintain or lose weight instead of gaining holiday pounds.
How does it work?
Your goal is to maintain your weight and to be physically active for at least 30 minutes each day. To maximize weight control, pay attention to the foods you choose--make smart selections and go easy on the holiday treats. This is the perfect time to increase your fruit and vegetable intake to at least 5 servings a day. Also, it’s important to begin the day with healthy breakfast choices. After 43 days you’ll be rewarded with the best gifts of all: an active, healthy lifestyle; control of your weight; and feeling great about your holiday habits.
Why participate?
For many of us maintaining weight and/or starting an activity program can be difficult--especially during the holiday season. Work, family and other responsibilities often crowd out time to do something good for yourself. Maintain--Don’t Gain! helps you get back on track and stay there by making fitness fun with activities, articles and rewards. This wellness challenge will provide information about how to substitute healthier ingredients in holiday recipes, healthy and tasty alternative holiday recipes and provide you with strategies for enjoying the holidays.
Who can participate?
Everyone can be successful in Maintain--Don’t Gain! You set your own weight maintenance and fitness goals, then chart your progress daily and your weight at the beginning and the end of the 43-day program.
