Project Methodology
Construction Stage
The Construction Stage is where decisions made during the Design Stage are put into place via detailed design, development, and acceptance testing. Although much of the stage centers around technical development activities, the configuration team is heavily involved in many tasks, including functional development requests and functional acceptance testing. It is also important to note that the configuration team, during the Construction Stage, continues with the Baseline/Golden Configuration tasks that were begun in the Analysis/Design stage. The major steps of this Stage include the following:
- Functional Development Requests are created for each individual modification or customization item identified in the Business Process Design. The configuration team will put together detailed requirements for each online modification, interface, report, and workflow. Completed Functional Development Requests are signed off by the State and MAXIMUS Configuration Consultants and Configuration Leads to confirm that the functional design is as intended and will meet the designated Edison requirements.
- Initialize, Construct, Technical Unit Test, and Document Development Items to develop and document modifications, interfaces, reports, and workflows to the specifications set forth in the Functional Development Request. The developer takes the Functional DR and performs all development tasks to complete the item, per the Edison Technical Standards document.
- Functional Development Request Test gives the configuration team a chance to review and accept individual development items after they have been constructed and unit tested by the technical team. The configuration team compares the completed item to the specifications as defined by the functional development request.
