The Tour also encourages runners and volunteers to accumulate Grand Prix points by participating in multiple races. By participating in at least five events, Grand Prix points attained at Tour races count toward potential awards that are presented at the end-of-season banquet following the last race on March 6, 2010. Points from a maximum of ten races (out of a possible 19) can be counted toward male and female awards for the Grand Prix Championship in six different divisions: Youth (0-19); Open (20-39); Masters (40-49); Grand Masters (50-59); Senior Grand Masters (60-69) and Seventy Plus (70+). 2009-2010 marks the 31st year of the annual Tennessee State Parks Running Tour. This unique fall and winter series of foot races is the oldest state parks running series in the nation. With strong support from local running clubs, the Tour sponsors challenging and affordable events at some of Tennessee’s most beautiful state park locations. With a basic $5 pre-registration fee, the Tour remains an outstanding low-cost winter running alternative. All participants that pre-register one week before race events may also order a high quality, long sleeve shirt with Tour logo and specific race name for $18. Same day registration without shirt remains $12. There are now a total of twenty races in the Running Tour, beginning on October 10, 2009 with a new 5K at Rock Island State Park, located 12 miles northeast of McMinnville. Tour regulars should note that the Forrest Johnsonville Charge has moved to February 20, 2010.
