Winner – Bridgestone Environmental Education Classroom and Habitat – Warren County
The Bridgestone Environmental Education Classroom and Habitat is an environmental classroom and teaching trail, which promotes environmental education in a hands-on science atmosphere. Bridgestone Warren, along with many other partners, combined resources so that all K-8 students in Warren County could visit the BEECH facility for interdisciplinary field investigations of nature trails and studies in a state-of-the-art classroom with live and mounted animals. Students gain appreciation of their environment, learn about stewardship, exercise and increase science and math understanding to improve standardized test scores through a hands-on learning method. They also learn about Tennessee's wildlife, forests, soils, water, natural heritage, air and parks and recreation. Bridgestone also teaches students about conservation, recycling, composting, renewable energy and their responsibility as individuals to protect the earth.
