TASL Purpose & Guidelines

The purpose of the Tennessee Academy for School Leaders (TASL) is to provide high-quality professional development opportunities for school and district leaders.  Effective Tennessee educational leaders must be able to combine current research in cognitive science, knowledge of local needs, skill at building collaborative cultures, and best practices for effective instruction.  Ongoing professional growth is critical if leaders are to be successful.

TASL programs, which are supported by rigorous research and established best practices, prepare Tennessee’s school leaders to implement the changes that will prepare teachers and students to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s world and workplace.

TASL has used the nine Key Result Areas from the State Board of Education’s Master Plan for Tennessee Schools and the seven Tennessee Instructional Leadership Standards as guidelines for workshop development.
