Statewide Student Management System (SSMS)

Implementation Status Update as of 11/18/05

Phase I & II:  Seventy-two school districts, three State Special Schools and the Department of Children’s Services are in various stages of live implementation of the SSMS (StarStudent and EasyIEP) during the 2005-06 school year.  Phase II districts are in the process of completing data conversion and training related to the Academic History module, the last component of the implementation process.

Phase III:  Twenty-six school districts are scheduled to come onboard for the 2006-07 school year.  Welcome Packets have been distributed that outline the training plan and data conversion process for StarStudent.

  1. The Project Team conducted three regional Phase III Kick-Off sessions across the state during the week of November 14, 2005 that provided the districts with an overview of the implementation rollout plan for data conversion and training, including a timeline and the expectations for making the transition to StarStudent and EasyIEP.
  2. Introductory DBA (Database Administrator) WebEx training will begin on November 29, 2005 followed by more detailed regional training for DBA’s beginning in January of 2006.
  3. These districts will begin scheduling training in January 2006 in preparation for scheduling students into SSMS for the 2006-07 school year.
  4. Regional training sessions for EasyIEP administrators and end users are scheduled to begin in January 2006 as well.
  5. Additional StarStudent training will occur later in the school year and into the summer.
  6. The initial preparation for the data conversion process (conference calls with each district) began in November as well.
