Modifications
in Training Procedures & Requirements
for Experienced Service Coordinators in Tennessee
While
all service coordinators in Tennessee receive training on full core
content material, appropriate adjustments have been made to portfolio
requirements and training procedures in recognition of the experienced
service coordinator’s knowledge and years of practice within
Tennessee's system. These modifications are listed in this document
for the convenience of the trainer. They are also reflected in the Snapshots
for the Journey-Experienced Service Coordinator Portfolio Guide and
in the Record of the Journey-Documentation of Portfolio Results
for the Experienced Service Coordinator.
Pathfinder Module Quick Index
To
assist the trainer in locating a particular training item, the contents
of each module are listed in the module’s corresponding Roadmap
for the Journey-The Trainer’s Guide. Electronic
binder bookmarks and the Pathfinder Module Quick Index are
two additional tools for locating a specific training item. Training
items from all ten-core modules, are alphabetized, organized by module,
and combined in this document for the convenience of the trainer.

Electronic Binders and Bookmarks ( an explanation and example)
On the CD-rom, each numbered module folder contains an electronic binder. The
complete contents of the module are included in this binder. The binder may
be thought of as a notebook with the entire module inside. When the binder
is opened, the user may click on the Bookmarks tab on the left side
of the screen to locate any particular item in the module. The bookmarks allow
one to move freely from one specific item to another within the full module
content without scrolling through all contents. Binders are in .pdf format
and again there is one for each module.
PowerPoint Presentations
There are thirty-one PowerPoint presentations in the core training.
These are included in the electronic binders as .pdf files. They
are also included in each module folder as .ppt files in order
to allow the trainer to use them with ease.
Each of the ten-core modules includes the following tools:
Roadmap for the Journey-The Trainer’s Guide is
the tool that the trainer uses to prepare for teaching a module. The
Roadmaps contain the following:
Description
of the Module
- Competencies
- Contents
- Procedures for Training
- Estimated training time
- Materials list

There are two versions of Snapshots for the Journey and Record
of the Journey. The different versions reflect
slightly different requirements and procedures for training professionals
who are new to service coordination in Tennessee, as opposed
to those experienced in providing early intervention service
coordination in Tennessee. To view an example of a Snapshot,
open any module binder and go to the bookmark named Snapshot.
