The State Department of Education has established five Health
Education Resource Centers around the state for the purpose of
assisting local education agencies in augmenting health education
courses to include HIV prevention education. With the Department’s
new emphasis on coordinated school health, physical activity, and
nutrition, the Health Education Resource Centers have been designed
to serve as a depository for equipment, curricula, and related
materials. Designed on the “lending library” concept, local
education agencies may borrow items for a designated period of
time and then return the items to the resource center.
The centers have been established in collaboration with institutions
of higher education. If schools in your system are interested
in borrowing items to teach units in health education (including
HIV prevention), physical activity, physical education, or nutrition,
please contact the following people in your area for more information.
