Interim Type B License

Interim B Initial Issuance

The Interim Type B license is issued at the request of the superintendent/director of schools of a Tennessee school district to an individual who is employed while still completing the required Praxis Series Exams for obtaining full licensure.

The following documentation is needed:

1. Interim B application signed by superintendent/director of schools using current endorsement codes

2. Original transcripts from all College(s)

3. Letter of eligibility from Tennessee Institution or recommendation from Out of State institution

Renewal Of Interim B

The Interim License Type B may be renewed for one additional school year if necessary. To renew this license, the superintendent/director of schools must sign an application for renewal of the Interim Type B license stating his/her intent to re-employ the applicant for an additional school year and submit it to the Tennessee Office of Teacher Licensing.

The following documentation is needed:

1. Interim B application signed by superintendent/director of schools stating intent to re-employ

Should a handicapping condition exist, a third year shall be allowed per Tennessee Code Annotated 49-5-5605. 

The following documentaiton is needed to make this request

  1. Interim B application signed by superintendent/director of schools stating intent to re-employ
  2. Letter from the superintendent/director of schools addressed to the Director for Office of Teacher Licensing must accompany the application form.
