Tennessee Learn and Serve

The Tennessee Department of Education's Office of School Safety and Learning Support in collaboration with the Tennessee Commission on National and Community Service manage a competitive grant program available to all Tennessee school districts. This program supports the integration of service-learning in K-12 public schools.

Service-learning is a teaching strategy in which student address community problems. As an effective teaching strategy, it is designed to help students acquire core course content and skills. Through service learning students develop civic competencies, knowledge and dispositions that lead to a lifetime of civic engagement and service to the community.
