Study Council for Alternative Education

The Study Council for Alternative Education was established by the Tennessee Department of Education in 2005 to foster collaboration and networking between alternative educators and the Department. The central mission of the Study Council is to "provide a forum for gathering and disseminating information as well as advocating for and proposing changes to benefit students who are in need of an alternative educational delivery system." Each region is divided into separate Study Councils with the Chairperson serving as a liaison to the Tennessee Department of Education. The group has a support and networking component and meets regularly during the school year. To find out who represents your geographical region, or more information about regional meetings, you may download the Study Council map by click here .
