Federal Programs: Comprehensive Monitoring for Programs under No Child Left BehindThe State Department of Education is required to monitor Local Educational Agencies each year. This activity ensures compliance with Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) 80.40 and also allows the federal programs consultants an opportunity to provide technical assistance to Local Educational Agencies and to become more familiar with programs in the schools. Monitoring is a joint effort by Local Educational Agencies and the State Department of Education to improve services to students in the schools, particularly for those students most in danger of not meeting state standards.
