CORE strives to provide districts with the support to create regional collaborative relationships, differentiated professional development and evidence based best practice sharing. By establishing an agreed upon set of norms, CORE staff will work closely with district staff in doing the "right work" to improve student learning. The department has eight regional offices throughout the state staffed with an executive director and support staff that includes academic specialists, fiscal and consolidated planning consultants.
CORE support begins with an analysis of district data, needs assessment, and an evaluation of the district's current level of implementation actions. CORE team members work intensely with district leaders around the following framework:
Some State Performance Indicators (SPIs) were removed from the 2013-14 TCAP to support educators in focusing their instruction as we transition to the Common Core State Standards. To reflect these changes in the practice tests, our academic support network (CORE regional offices) collaborated to remove questions that were aligned to the dropped SPIs from the TCAP practice test. Please see below the updated TCAP practice tests for math and ELA in grades 3-8 and for Algebra I and II, and English II and III.
Our academic support network (CORE regional offices) also created a list of the SPIs each question aligns to for all math content.
Adjustments were only made to assessments used for accountability. No adjustments were made to other TCAP practice tests (Science, U.S. History, etc.) as no SPIs were dropped for these assessments in the 2013-14 school year.
If you would prefer to view the original TCAP Practice Tests for grades 3-8 ELA, 3-8 math, Algebra I, Algebra II, English II, and English III, you can find them on the department’s assessment page
If you have additional questions about these materials, please reach out to the data analyst in your CORE office.
