Urban Education Improvement

Helping Teachers Teach and Children Learn in Urban Schools

The Urban Education Improvement Program was created in 2003 and is a working partnership between the Department, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders who are striving to improve student achievement in urban schools.

 PROGRAM GOALS

  • To create the best environment for our children to learn
  • To serve as an outstanding resource for urban schools that face unique challenges in meeting achievement standards.
  • To research and implement best practices that focus on the needs of urban schools and the children that they serve
  • To assist in locating resources for those schools
  • To identify staff development needs
  • To focus school improvement processes on student achievement.
