Creating and retaining Tennessee jobs is one of Governor Phil Bredesen’s major initiatives. Created by Executive Order in 2003, the Jobs Cabinet facilitates cooperation between the various departments of state government concerned with the creation of better paying, higher skilled jobs.

As an entrepreneur, Governor Bredesen understands that successful economic development for Tennessee requires functional partnerships not only between local and state government officials, business leaders and economic development professionals, but also between agencies within state government. The Jobs Cabinet includes commissioners from seven state departments, as well as representatives from higher education and business trade groups.
