The Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) Provider Manual (Chapter 6.7) states that all board chairs must attend New Provider Orientation or view a DIDD orientation videotape presentation within ninety calendar days of assuming office. The video presentation will no longer be distributed and any copies of the presentation that have been received should no longer be used.
Agency board chairs who are not able to attend the New Provider Orientation Class provided at the DIDD Central Office in Nashville, TN may still meet the board chair orientation requirements by reviewing the web-based New Provider Orientation materials prepared by DIDD. These materials include PowerPoint Presentations, handouts, etc. Any questions about specific subject matter can be addressed by the contact person listed next to the topic of interest.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you choose to review the web-based New Provider Orientation materials prepared by DIDD in lieu of attending the Central Office New Provider Orientation Class, please review the information carefully. Upon completion of your review, sign, date and retain a copy of the New Provider Orientation Acknowledgment Form, as it must be available for review by Quality Assurance staff during future surveys.
A systems orientation program for new independent support coordination, residential, day and personal assistance providers is presented by DIDD Central Office staff. In addition, a regional provider orientation program is presented by staff in each Regional Office. It is required that the provider executive director, chief executive officer or other administrator responsible for executing contracts and board chair (as applicable) attend both the regional and systems orientation programs. Existing providers who wish to attend are also welcome.
