FIRST ANNUAL CORRECTIONS SYMPOSIUM

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The future of corrections will be one of several topics discussed during the first annual Corrections Symposium to be held in Memphis next week. Corrections and law enforcement professionals from Tennessee and surrounding states will gather for the 2008 Corrections Agencies of West Tennessee (CAWT) Symposium. Experts will tackle issues including offender reentry, managing gangs, recruitment and retention of staff.

The CAWT is made up of the Tennessee Department of Correction-Mark Luttrell Correctional Center, Federal Correctional Institution-Federal Bureau of Prisons, Shelby County Governement-Division of Correction and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office-Jail Division. Its mission is to maintain collaborative working relationships and identify common visions through higher education, training, emergency preparedness and shared resources.

The media is invited to attend the 2008 Corrections Symposium.
