Henning - The Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) is pleased to announce that one of the West Tennessee facilities recently passed their American Correctional Association (ACA) audit with high marks.  The West Tennessee State Penitentiary (WTSP) which also houses the Women’s Therapeutic Residential Center (WTRC) passed the ACA’s audit this week thus completing a key step to earning reaccreditation.

The West Tennessee State Penitentiary received a high score of 100% on the mandatory standards and 99.31% on the non-mandatory standards.  This is the first audit at the facility since WTRC became operational.  According to TDOC Commissioner Tony Parker, “Achieving reaccreditation means the citizens of this state can continue to have assurance that WTSP/WTRC operate to the highest professional standards and under the safest correctional security measures, while we continually strive to operate safe and secure prisons and provide effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety.”

ACA reaccreditation is expected to be awarded in January 2019 during the ACA Winter Conference.
