Land Surveyors

The mission of the Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors is to serve the citizens of Tennessee by efficiently and effectively providing a fair, flexible, and positive regulatory environment for consumer service industries. Our goal is to assure that every licensee has met the minimum qualifications prior to being granted a license.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS:  Changes are coming for applicants without a bachelor's degree. Candidates will now need to hold PLSIT certification at the time of their progressive practical experience in order for that experience to qualify. Refer to TCA § 62-18-109 for a full description of each licensure path and its requirements.

In an effort to streamline this process, the Board has voted to waive prior approval for the FS exam. You may now register directly via and sit for the exam whenever you're ready. Once you've passed, you should submit your PLSIT application and your qualifying experience can begin to accrue.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR LICENSEES: Continuing education reporting is now biennial (every two years). It is no longer necessary to report education at the end of each year, as long as you show your 30-hour total by the end of every renewal cycle. The current cycle ends on December 31, 2017.
