Admission to Examination Site:
- You must present your approval letter and one form of legible
signed photographic identification in order to be admitted.
- You must have paid the required examination fee(s) and have been
approved to take examination(s) prior to coming to the examination
site on examination day. Examination proctors CANNOT accept
fees at the examination site.
- The directions to the examination site are offered as a courtesy to
you in finding the named facility in the approval letter provided by
the Tennessee Board of Examiners for Land Surveyors. These
directions have been provided to the Board by the named facility
and the Board assumes no responsibility for their accuracy. You
must allow adequate time to find and arrive at the examination site
in order to sit for your required examination(s) at the scheduled
time(s). PLEASE NOTE THAT TIMES INDICATED ON YOUR
APPROVAL LETTER ARE FOR THE CENTRAL TIME ZONE.
- Instructions will be given in detail to candidates at the examination
site. Be sure that you understand everything that is said to you
prior to beginning examination(s). When the end of an examination
is called, it is imperative that you close your test booklet and stop
writing immediately. Anyone continuing to write after time is called
will be disqualified from the examination.
What to bring to the Examination site:
- Candidates should bring a supply of sharpened #2 wood or
mechanical pencils and a good eraser. No ink or felt tip pens will
be allowed. All candidates should bring engineer’s scales, a
protractor and two triangles. No pencil sharpener will be provided
at the examination site. Scratch paper will be provided in the
examination booklets.
- For open book examinations, published textbooks, handbooks,
bound reference materials, codes, tables, manuals, standards and
ordinances may be used. Bound means glued, stitched, or
fastened by spiral binders, ring binders, plastic snap binders, screw
posts or Acco type binders. Loose papers, loose notes and
materials not bound together as previously described and writing
tablets are not permitted in the examination room. Reference
materials or any other items allowed during an examination will not
be exchanged between candidates during the examination.
- Battery operated, SILENT, non-printing, non-programmable and
programmable calculators are allowed. Program modules, cards
and hand-entered programs may be used in calculators during the
examinations. The beeper function must be turned OFF. Use of
electrical outlets or extension cords is not allowed at the
examination site. Computers or calculators capable of word
processing, or with QWERTY keyboards or able to store and recall
alphabetic text are not permitted. Any item that compromises the
security of any examination is expressly forbidden and not allowed
in the examination room.
NCEES limits calculators allowed in the examination room. The
following models are the only calculators that will be permitted in
the examination room for use during the April 2005 and October
2005 examination administrations. No other models of
calculators will be allowed. Only the models listed below may
be used on the examination.
- Hewlett Packard – HP 33s
- Hewlett Packard – HP 9s
- Casio – FX 115 MS and FX 115 MS Plus (Note:
Models with “-SR” designation at the end are
also allowed)
- Texas Instruments – TI 30X 11S and TI 30X 11B
- Texas Instruments – TI 36X Solar
- Every effort is made to provide an examination site that is quiet,
comfortable and free from distractions. However, if you are
sensitive to noise and variations in temperature, it may be
advisable to bring earplugs and adequate clothing that will allow
you to account for warmer or cooler temperatures in the
examination room. CELL PHONES AND PAGERS ARE NOT
ALLOWED IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM. Drinking water and
monitored rest rooms will be provided at the examination site.
Beverages are only allowed on the floor next to your seat. No
smoking will be allowed in or near the examination room.
Permission to stop your examination for a smoke break in a
monitored smoking area will be granted on an individual basis.
During lunch breaks, an adjacent lunchroom with tables, microwave
and vending for beverages, pastries and candies is available.
Several hotels and restaurants are within 2 miles of the
examination site.
