Petroleum Quality This section monitors the quality of petroleum products. Truth in labeling is verified for octane ratings and additives, and the exclusion of harmful impurities. The petroleum section has made great strides in this area over a short period of time. The first month we began testing for petroleum quality the violation rate was twenty percent (20%). Within a three month period the violation rate jumped down to under ten percent (10%) and currently the violation rate is at approximately three percent (3%). We contribute much of this success to the enforcement tools provided in the Kerosene and Motor Fuel Quality Inspection Act.
